The Histronauts An Egyptian Adventure Book Review

Growing up one of my favourite lessons in History were the ones where we learnt about the Egyptians, the Pyramids and of course Tutankhamun.  I can still remember going to the museum and seeing the mummies and all the artefacts.  I was fascinated.  And so watching K go through the same excitement at learning about the wonders of Egypt, this book couldn't have arrived at a better time.

Etsy Finds | Winter Warmers

I've been thinking about writing up this post for a while now, but never got round to it.  Yesterday, I decided to do a poll on my Instagram stories and everyone who voted said 'YES!'.  Except for 2 people.  Which is why my Etsy finds post is being typed up right now.

My All Saints Wishlist + 40% Off

I'm surprised I've never bought anything from All Saints since most of their clothing is right up my street, especially in the colour department.  Plenty of dark shades, black, greys and hints of blush.  Just perfect.  And since I haven't done a wish list post for a very long time, I think it's time for another one on the blog, don't you think?

The Perfect Books for Every Homeschool Parent | Bloomsbury Curriculum Basics

If you're thinking about homeschooling and don't know where to start or just find the whole process a little daunting then I'm about to share some amazing books that'll help you through.  When I first started homeschooling I struggled with what exactly I was supposed to teach K.  I needed a place that explained to me in plain english what I had to teach her and what she needed to know during her Primary school years.

Book Haul | The Book People

I love the smell of new books and since homeschooling K I've been buying a lot more books than I've done before.  I'm actually quite enjoying it.  We've got quite a collection of books and it's great for K to have a little library of her own to delve into whenever she's doing some research or just for pleasure.  She's always been a bit of a bookworm so I picked up some classics for her too.

The other day, I was thinking about blogging, again. It seems to be the only thing on my mind at the moment.  Considering I was having a little slump in my blogging journey, I've done well to get back on track.

Blogging Again?

So here I am blogging again.  I've been thinking about getting back into blogging, like serious blogging.  Like maybe, posting everyday or every other day or even having a proper schedule and actually sticking to it.  Because, you see, although everything might look so polished, you know the bit you see, it actually takes a lot of hours and hard work to get there.

Educating K | Useful Resources, Websites & Books

When I first started homeschooling these are the kind of posts I would search for online.  Something to help me along and read about other peoples experiences and advice.  So I really hope my Educating K series has been useful.  Today, I'm sharing my favourite resources, websites and books that have helped me and K start our homeschool too.  I'm also sharing other books that I've come across which I think will be useful in your homeschool.  I haven't bought them yet, but they're definitely on my list.

Educating K | Which Resources Are We Using? | Skills Based

You'd think that the previous two posts were enough when it came to homeschooling, but for me there are a few skills which are just as important to help your child along.  They add a little extra and work wonders at enhancing their learning experience and adding skills that will stay with them and benefit them greatly.

Educating K | Which Books Are We Using? | Other Subjects

Since my previous post was too long I had to split the post into 3 parts otherwise we'd have been here all day!  I've talked about how we're learning English, Maths and Science so today we'll be looking at Geography, History, Computing and Islamic Studies.

Educating K | How I Planned our Whole Year

I love planning.  Planning for a holiday or planning a new concept for Love Hijab.  But planning a lesson is something I'd done a very long time ago and wasn't quite sure how planning a whole year let alone a day of homeschooling was going to have in store for me.

Educating K | Our Homeschool Timetable

Before I tell you all about how I planned our whole year, I think it would be best to talk to you about the subjects K will be studying.  First, I made a list of all the subjects K wanted to learn.  I knew we would definitely be doing English, Maths, Science and Computing, but K also requested we do Geography and History too.  And when I came across Safar Publications books, they were the perfect books to teach K all about our religion as well as teaching her to respect other religions too.

Educating K | Why Are We Homeschooling?

So here's a post I've been meaning to write up for a while.  I know I like my fashion related posts but I actually do have other things going in on my life too.  Amongst all other things, is homeschooling.  We just started homeschooling in February this year and although it was difficult to begin with, we soon settled in.  I thing we were kind of thrown in at the deep end, you could say.  Because we had never really looked into it before or done any research, it was like we were heading into the unknown.  And to be honest, we were!

How To Style An Oversized Coat

There was a time that I remember so clearly when no one would wear anything oversized or even a couple of sizes bigger than their actual size.  Everything had to be the correct size.  But I'm so glad that these days you can comfortably go to a store and pick up a sweatshirt or t-shirt in a larger size without feeling like you're going to stick out like a sore thumb.  That's why I love the oversized look and it's great for those days when you don't want to make an effort, but don't want to look like you haven't made an effort either!  You get what I mean?

Top 5 Shoes Under £20 from H&M

If you don't love a bargain when buying a pair of shoes, then I'm afraid to say there's something not quite right.  I can't resist a good bargain, especially when it comes to shoes.  I have a collection that's too big for my wardrobe even though I cleared most of them out a couple of years ago.  Don't ask me what happened after that because I'm back to square one.  And as if my shoes collection isn't over flowing enough, I went on the hunt for more and came across a few gems I couldn't help but share with you too.

How To Style A Checked Dress

When I think about checked fabric it either makes me think of my school uniform as a 6 year old or a picnic!  So I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this updated checked print.  Gone are the days when checked was just checked and stripes were just stripes, because if you remember the striped shirts this Summer, well, then they were all about floral embroidery.  And it seems like the checked print has caught the bug too.  I love the mixture so I couldn't resist styling this red and black checked shirt dress with gorgeous poppies thrown all over it.  This was a challenge I couldn't turn down!

How To Style A Satin Dress

If you've ever tried wearing anything made out of satin, you'll be all too familiar with this fabric.  In my opinion, it's one of the most difficult fabrics to wear.  It can cling to your body in all the wrong places and along with that, there are some colours that just don't work in this fabric.  Baby pink comes to mind, as does sky blue.  A colour I instantly regretted wearing when I was much younger.  Needless to say I never laid my hands on satin after that fiasco.  But, things may be about to change.

Pineapple & Mint Mojito

Since I haven't been very active on here for a while, I thought I should write a little foodie post.  It most definitely has been a while hasn't it?  I made my Pineapple & Mint Mojito the other day and it went down a treat so it's time to share it with you too.  It's very refreshing and perfect for this season.  Although I'm saying that, here in the UK it's been a little on and off.  We've had our fair share of rain and it doesn't look like it's going to stop, but you never know with our weather.  I'm still hoping for some sunshine.  I shouldn't complain because it's not been too bad.  A little rain never hurt anyone.

Ramadhan & Diabetes | I Don't Fast!

It's not always that I talk about something so personal, but I thought maybe it was time to share this with you.  Recently, I've been feeling a little bad when people ask me questions like 'How's your Ramadhan going?' or 'Hope your Ramadhan is going well'.  I don't fast because I can't.  So when someone asks me that, I feel awful.  Even though I'll say it's going well, deep down I know they're actually referring to the fasting part of Ramadhan and since I don't keep any, my Ramadhan isn't the same as everyone elses.
